Q. Was wondering if you had the time to give any insight on this whole awakening business. I know you are a busy guy... but after I stumbled across your blog I felt the same energy in your words as Ramana's writings
A few years ago I had what I consider a “Kundalini” awakening, it was unintentional and came from practicing meditation. After seeing the “blue pearl” and the golden light.. As you can imagine I have had all kinds of trouble since then.... every symptom in the book. After 4 years of this energy imbalance hell things seem to be straightening out... reading Adyashanti's book “the end of your world” seemed to have fixed a lot of the mind “issues”...

Ramesh Balsekar |
After stumbling upon Ramana...Ramesh Balsekar, Wayne Liqourman, the only thing that has brought me any peace is that I have no control, and others also have no control. Even me writing this letter to you is something that is just happening... Why am I doing it? Who knows.
I guess my question is, are there any practices I can do that will bring this heavy pressure in the third eye back to balance? Messing with chakra stuff seems to make everything worse, as does meditation exercises...I have been out of work for a while now, and nobody will hire me..... I'm a musician... I have this intuition that I need to move...I have been to MD's and of course, they find nothing wrong with me...Acceptance of what is... If the “movie” is in the can like Ramesh and Ramana say, what is the point of making any effort?...reading books is hard unless it has a certain energy quality to it, it seems that it isn't the words but the energy behind them which processes. Sitting around with nothing to do, and no energy to do it is just no good
Lately the process of self inquiry has started to happen by itself, as in I will be sitting there and a question (usually, “what is this me?” “what is my source?”) will come up and and everything gets completely quiet, only to return back to illusion a few minutes later.
I assume you went through some kind of stage like this, any insights you have to share would be welcomed.
G.
namaste.
it sounds like you're going through some "good" stuff. the rough patches are well known ones.
The particularly good stuff is that the inquiry is manifesting "by itself". Go with that. Whenever it comes to visit, go with it. Do the inquiry with some curiosity, not just parroting a mantra. Really ask yourself, "Where am I?", "When am I?", and especially as you're a musician, "Who hears?".
When you're doing a set or whatever, really watch "Who hears?" If you get a pause, a stillness, really feel that. Sometimes folk go right past the pause looking for an intellectual answer, but the pause is "the pause that refreshes", and that pause is "IT".
we know from our cognitive neuroscience that every time you get that window, even if it's a short one, the brain recognizes it, and if attention is paid to it, it will try to make it happen again, as the brain "reallllyyyy" likes the stillness, reallllyyyy.
It's like a data point the brain needs and uses to change which centers are operating in some new functional pattern. we know what pattern it is trying to create, it does too, but the more data it has, the more times you do the inquiry and get the space, the cleaner the new pattern will become.
Ramana is my sat guru, but i found Ramesh, and Wayne, esp as Ram Tzu, to be very useful. Spent some time w/Adya - a very useful guy as he is so "straight up" on so many issues. Many folk get caught in "i'm not in control" to mean "what's the point of doing anything?". They aren't the same message.
you may find yourself doing enormous work, playing, or whatever, and being totally absorbed and surrendering yourself into the work, like when you are "in flow" sometimes when you're playing.
Knowing that you are not in control means only that you surrender whatever results might arise, good or bad, from whatever actions come to you to be done. Everything is done 100%, except you let go of the results.

If meditation, or chakra, or energy work, only make it "worse", then back off them. IME, you need some physical exercise, particularly coupled with the breath, like the yoga exercises in my book, which are also on my website.
Doing some breathing exercises, either in asanas or just sitting, would be a great idea. These are also on my website. A good practice to try would be to ask yourself "Who hears?" on the inhale, and feel the answer in the space after inhale, and then "I am not the hearer" on the exhale.
Don't worry about the pressure in your Third Eye/Sixth Chakra; forget anything you have read about it. Whatever practices are evolving for you, like reading Ramana or Adya or whoever appeals, doing the inquiry, preferably with breath, are the ones that the Universe, which is also the Third Eye, is presenting now to move that forward. you tried the traditional ones w/kundalini, energy and chakra work and they didn't work, so let them go.
Feel carefully your deep intuition about moving to a bigger music scene and see where it's coming from. Don't blame yourself for not being able to find work; it is very tough right now in the job market for everyone. Many, many folk are out of work and can't find anything.
Take this opportunity to get your practice together and grounded. When it's time to work, the Universe knows where to find you (as you are Her).
Trust this is useful. Keep in touch.
