Hi Gary:

Traveling, now...Its amazing, everyday is 78 degrees and sunny... fighting new city stomach issues. : )

Practice wise, cooled off the formal sitting as per your suggestion. Also have taken up qi gong and been doing that daily for a couple weeks. Really noticing a difference energetically. I can see its essential to have an energetic practice. Might try to learn a entire tai chi set--a chinese friend I was speaking to last night said he would put me in touch with his elderly mother's teacher. Not noticing any of that old trauma/self hatred stuff anymore. Everything seems to be really cooling down. Haven't been doing much of the self inquiry--but I guess thats going to be the next phase...

sounds like things are going really well.  Cooling off the formal sitting seems to be working well.  It may come back again at the same intensity, or not.  Be present for how your energy is manifesting.

If you move back into the trauma/self hatred stuff again, lighten up - if not, you may find that there has been some resolution of a lot of it through your catharsis, and a deeper, or even totally different practice may manifest.

Did a little qi gong, and a lot of tai chi for several years, virtually all Yang Long Form.  Was a huge fan.  i found its energy was different from that i got from yoga and balancing both energy sets wasn't quite working, so i had to let go of the tai chi.  Have done so many different yoga systems for a long time that there is a lot there to work with.

Still find myself in spontaneous postures, occasionally going into the tai chi.    Tai chi is a really deeping, and engaging meditation and a great dance in the Dance.

Am a firm believer that everyone should/must do some sort of physical practice, energetically-focused if possible.  Without that, "stuff" locked in the physical body is untouched and the practices stay too "mental".  It really has to be "embodied" with body practices.

It also arose this morning in sitting that you shouldn't automatically assume that inquiry has stopped just because "you" aren't doing it.

The real work, IME, continues "off line" in "primary consciousness", even when "secondary consciousness" (I, ego, self) isn't aware of it or isn't "doing" it.

Primary consciousness is most of our brain capability and capacity, and is where virtually all problems get solved, and plans get made, etc. before it is sent to secondary consciousness, which then takes credit for it, as in "look at what i did".  Secondary consciousness is where distress, trauma and self-hatred reside.

It would be very surprising if primary consciousness wasn't continuing to work on your inquiry w/o a lot of fuss.   you may find that some surprising insights arise "out of nowhere", somewhere down the road.

Safe travel...  Best w/the stomach issues.

stillness and surrender
